Philately of Yugoslavia: Provisional issue for Sarajevo 1945

Overprinting of stamps was authorized by the Postal Directorate in Sarajevo. The stamps were in use only 3 days between the 7th and the 9th of July 1945, when they were recalled from circulation as the General Postal Directorate in Belgrade didn’t authorize the issue. It is estimated that around 600 complete sets were sold during the three days the stamps were available in post offices.

7 July 1945. Provisional issues for the city of Sarajevo. Stamps of the Independent State of Croatia overprinted with new values and country inscriptions in letterpress. Printed in panes of 100.
