Provisional issues of the Independent State of Croatia

First provisional issues for the Independent State of Croatia were issued 6 days after the invasion of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia by the Axis powers in 1941 and 5 days before an an armistice was signed.

Provisional issues consisted of overprinted stamps of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. These stamps were valid until February 15th, 1943, when they were demonetized by a single state decree, although the whole stock was used by the mid of 1942.

12 April 1941. The first provisional issue. King Peter II overprinted with inscription NEZAVISNA DRŽAVA HRVATSKA and 6 vertical lines over old country name.

Stamps of the 1939/40 definitive issue of postage stamps of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, bearing the effigy of King Peter II, overprinted with new country name in black color. The overprinting was done by Zemaljska tiskara in Zagreb in letterpress.

1	Letters uneven and deformed, bottom serifs of last two bars deformed.

21 April 1941. The second provisional issue. King Peter II overprinted with inscription NEZAVISNA DRŽAVA HRVATSKA and coat of arms in black color.

Stamps were issued in panes of 100 (10 x 10) and overprinted in letterpress by Zemaljska tiskara in Zagreb using two forms. Overprinting started on 19th of April and lasted for two weeks. Overprint was designed by Radoslav Horvat and produced by Božidar Kocmut.

The last issue of postage dues of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia without inscription Д.ВАГНЕР below the bottom frame. Postage dues were issued in panes of 100. The overprint was designed by Božidar Kocmut, stamps were overprinted by State printing works in Zagreb.
