Varieties of Swiss Franchise stamps
C. Post-free stamps for institutions
Since 1 January 1911, post-free stamps were distributed to charitable institutions, companies and societies for franking their correspondence. In order to control the usage, small black numers were imprinted on stamps, each number represents a certain authorized usage. Stamps without control numbers were issued for collectors.
