0.25 kuna on 2 kuna, carmine (Zagreb)


Stamps of the provisional issue were released on 25 June 1942. Newly printed definitive stamps of 2 kuna on intaglio paper in head to tail setting, were overprinted in letterpress with new denomination value of 0.25 kuna in different shades of red color. Both stamp and overprint were designed by Croatian artist Oto Antonini. In total 10.000.000 stamps were produced.

Note: overprints in black color also exist. The origin of these is unknown, it is speculated they are either essays or contemporary products intended for philatelic market.

From available literature it is not possible to assume that the same plate flaws as on the regular issue appear on this issue as well.
