Yugoslavia, the “Small Peter” issue of 1935/38

The sixth definitive issue with a portrait of King Peter II was printed between 6 September 1935 and 1 August 1936 in letterpress by State Printing Works on chalk-coated paper. In 1938 values of 0.25 and 0.50 din were reprinted on thick grayish paper.

The color of the early runs of
1.50 din stamp was soluble in water.

Colors
Noticeable differences in colors, especially on 0.25, 0.50, 1.50, and 4 dinar stamps, resulted from many printing runs in which the stamps were printed. In the first print runs the color of 1.50 din stamp was soluble in water. Also, the brown color of the 1 dinar stamp often gets a greenish tone when in contact with moisture.

Perforations
Stamps are perforated comb 13 : 12½, some values also exist in mixed perforations:

  • right 9, other sides 12½: 3.50 din,
  • on top 11½, other sides 12½: 3.50 din,
  • on bottom 11½, other sides 12½: 0.75 and 1.50 din.
